"It's been a long day without you, my friend," Puth sang playing the piano. "And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again. We've come a long way from where we began. Oh I'll tell you all about it when I see you again. When I see you again."

Khalifa continued.

"Who knew all the planes we flew. Good things we've been through. That I'll be standing right here. Talking to you about another path. I know we loved to hit the road and laugh. But something told me that it wouldn't last. Had to switch up look at things different see the bigger picture. Those were the days hard work forever pays now I see you in a better place."

"Love and peace to the late Kobe Bryant. Peace and blessing to his entire family. His legacy is gonna be remembered," the rapper said after the song ended.

LeBron James also gave a moving speech about the NBA star, and asked that the night be a “celebration of the 20 years of the blood, the sweat, the tears, the broken down body and the countless hours…and determination to be as great as he could be.” He concluded by saying Kobe’s last words from his 2016 retirement night, “Mamba out,” and finished by sharing “In the words of us ‘not forgotten.’ Live on brother.”

After James’ address, Usher came out to serenade the crowd with “Amazing Grace” beside floral arrangements of Bryant’s with the two jersey numbers, 8 and 24.

There wasn't a dry eye at the Staples Center.
