It seems like the gluten-free rage is everywhere we turn these days. From guilty pleasures like pastas and beer, to restaurant menus, everything caters to those trying to cut gluten from their diets.

Wether you have celiac disease, gluten intolerance, or simply just want to take a healthier approach, cutting off gluten might be a difficult necessity, especially if you have a sweet tooth. Well, we’ve got some good news, it turns out a lot of our favorite Latin desserts are already gluten-free!

Arroz con leche

A lot of people get confused about this one, because rice is a grain after all, but it’s also definitely gluten-free so you can enjoy your childhood favorite sans guilt.

Flan

Eggs, milk, gelatin, and sweetener; so simple, yet so delicious. Flan is the ambrosia of desserts and you can enjoy it just as abuela made it without any alterations.

Mousse de chocolate

This one should make all the chocoholics out there dance with glee, and close their eyes with delight thinking about a delicious spoonful of this velvety, spongy, decadent all-time favorite.

Merenguitos

In some Latin American countries they’re also known as suspiros, and it’s always a fun dessert to make when you have extra egg whites from other recipes. You can also make dulce de leche sandwiches with them!
