TELEMUNDO INTERNACIONAL INKS EXCLUSIVE DISTRIBUTION DEAL WITH MEGA CHILE
CANNES, FRANCE - October 6, 2015. Telemundo Internacional and Mega Chile announced today the signing of a long-term agreement giving the distributor exclusive rights for the distribution of the Chilean channel’s fiction productions worldwide.
The signing, which took place in the presence of the media, was carried out by Marcos Santana, President of Telemundo Internacional and Patricio Hernández, CEO of Mega, making effective this month Telemundo Internacional’s international distribution rights, across different media and platforms, to all of Mega’s fictional programs and formats, outside of Chile.
This agreement expands Telemundo Internacional’s portfolio of Chilean productions, which are increasingly garnering success in international markets, with the offer of approximately 450 hours of content per year.
Regarding this new action, Santana stated, “This agreement will add to our catalog excellent quality content with creative and innovative stories, in line with the standards that characterize our brand.”
Patricio Hernández describes the agreement as, “a giant leap for Mega in the company’s goal to internationalize its content and presence in the world. We are proud to make this leap with Telemundo Internacional, a leader in the distribution of high quality content with a worldwide presence.
During the announcement, the companies presented Fancy Girl Without Money (Pituca sin Lucas), the 2014 Mega production that reached an average of 30 rating points and approximately 50% share, making the channel the undisputed leader of its prime time slot in Chile.
The drama, with 94 episodes, tells the story of Tichi Achondo Risopatron, mother of three young women and wife of one of the most influential entrepreneurs in Chile, Jose Antonio Risopatron, who loses everything as a result of his bad decisions, leaving his family literally on the street. This family’s fall from grace is a hard one that forces them to rebuild their home in a middle-class neighborhood where Ticha, her mother, and her daughters must start from scratch and work hard to survive. During the move, she unexpectedly meets her neighbor, a widower and father of four. This man, Manuel Gallardo, is also a staunch communist, and the union leader of the fishing terminal. At first, their distaste for each other is obvious, but time shows them that preconceptions and social status don’t mean a thing when love prevails.
This phenomenon, which promises to be well-received amongst international audiences, will be Telemundo Internacional’s first offer from Mega Visión’s catalog.
