Salma Hayek Recalls the 'Traumatic' Sex Scene That Made Her Cry

The Mexican actress's early days in Hollywood were hard times, even in 1993 while participating in 'Desperado'.

Salma Hayek has a broad-acting career, making her one of the most famous Latin stars internationally.

However, she had difficult moments in her early days in Hollywood, and one of them occurred in 1993 while participating in the film 'Desperado'.

The 54-year-old artist recalled during Dax Shepard's 'Armchair Expert' podcast that she had an unsettling experience while on set for her role in the film.

Salma recalled that filming a sex scene in 'Desperado' was very disturbing, and although she assured that director Robert Rodríguez and co-star Antonio Banderas were respectful, the experience was traumatic.

And, according to Hayek, she wasn’t told that there would be a sex scene between her and the Spanish actor. "When we were going to start filming, I started sobbing, 'I don't know if I can do it. I'm scared,'" Salma told Shepard.

But that was not all, as the Mexican celebrity also described Antonio Banderas's surprising reaction at the moment.

“It scared me that for him, it was like nothing,” she said. “I started crying, and he was like, ‘Oh my God. You’re making me feel terrible.’ ... And I was so embarrassed that I was crying.”

Fortunately, Robert Rodríguez never pressured her, and both he and Antonio Banderas did everything possible to make her feel comfortable. However, the thought that her family was going to see that shook Hayek's mind.

The sex scene Hayek refers to was shot behind closed doors with very few people, including the director, the co-star, and the filmmaker and producer's wife, Elizabeth Avellán.

Finally, Hayek revealed that her family went to the movies to see the film, and the actress asked them to leave the room momentarily during the sequence of the sex scene.

“You want your father to be nothing but proud of you,” she said.

Hayek and Banderas are still friends, and have co-starred in five more films since 'Desperado'.
