Matthew McConaughey got candid and revealed that he was a victim of sexual abuse several times during his teens. The actor opened up about his past in his new memoir 'Greenlights', where he talks about his life experiences.

The 50-year-old star identifies as ‘Greenlights’, yellow or red lights, some of the events that led him to move forward, pause or stop in life. In the publication, the 50-year-old star mentions how each moment taught him a lesson and how he overcame it.

At the beginning of the book, McConaughey shares several facts about himself as an introductory scenario for the rest of the book. The actor's memoirs include his personal experience with sexual abuse. "I was blackmailed into having sex for the first time when I was fifteen," McConaughey writes in the book. "I was certain I was going to hell for the premarital sex. Today, I am merely certain that I hope that’s not the case."

The Oscar winner confessed he "molested by a man when I was eighteen while knocked unconscious in the back of a van." McConaughey did not provide more details about either experience in the memoir, which came out this week.

“I’ve never felt like a victim,” the “Dallas Buyers Club" star wrote. “I have a lot of proof that the world is conspiring to make me happy,” McConaughey stated.
