Telemundo and Billboard announced today that internationally renowned artists Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee will receive the Billboard Latin Song of the Decade award for worldwide hit “Despacito”, during the Billboard Latin Music Awards. Both artists will also perform during the most prestigious awards show in Latin music, which will broadcast live on Telemundo on Wednesday, October 21 starting at 7pm/6c with the red carpet pre-show and followed at 8pm/7c by the three-hour awards show from the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida.

"Despacito" topped Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart for a record 56 (non-consecutive) weeks, the most weeks at No. 1 for any title since the chart’s inception in 1986.

The success of "Despacito" set the chart-topping longevity mark on Hot Latin Songs when it spent its 42nd week at No. 1 on the February 17, 2018-dated tally, surpassing the 41-week reign of Enrique Iglesias' "Bailando," with Descemer Bueno and Gente de Zona, in 2014-15.

In May 2017, "Despacito" also made history at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart - which includes songs of all genres - tying the then all-time mark for weeks at No. 1 (16) set by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s "One Sweet Day" in 1996.

Luis Fonsi, a finalist for four awards, including Latin Pop Artist of the Year, Solo, and Top Latin Album of the Year for "Vida," just released his new single "Perfecta" with fellow countryman Farruko. While Daddy Yankee, a finalist for 12 awards this year including Hot Latin Song of the Year for "Con Calma," arrives at the awards after signing a multimillion-dollar deal with Universal Music Group and releasing his new song "Don Don," featuring Anuel AA and Kendo Kaponi.

The Billboard Latin Music Awards will coincide with Billboard’s Latin Music Week, a three-day virtual experience dedicated to Latin music, culture, and entertainment. Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the event will take place October 20-23 and will feature intimate artist conversations, industry panels, exclusive performances and more. For more information and to RSVP, visit BillboardLatinMusicWeek.com.  For the latest news, visit Billboard.com/Latin
