Naya Rivera: Why Authorities Presume the 'Glee' Star's Death

California Emergency Services’ dive team and Los Angeles County joined forces with the Sheriff’s department to search for Rivera.

Authorities are still searching for Naya Rivera, one day after the ‘Glee’ actress disappeared.

About 24 hours ago Rivera’s 4-year-old son Josey was found sleeping with his life vest on a boat in the middle of California’s Lake Piru. Rivera’s rescue mission began on Wednesday, July 8th but was suspended at nightfall due to dangerous conditions. Authorities resumed the search at daybreak on Thursday, July 9th.

Most recently, the Ventura County Sherrif’s Department told NBC that this search has now shifted to a “recovery operation”.

"Upwards of 100 law enforcement and emergency personnel - including several dive teams from Sheriff's departments around the region - are searching the depths of Lake Piru for the body of Naya Rivera who is missing with all indications she drowned in Lake Piru," the department said Thursday.

California Emergency Services’ dive team and Los Angeles County joined forces with the Sheriff’s department to search for Rivera. A helicopter was also deployed.

Celebrities have been sharing their heartfelt messages and prayers for Rivera on social media, including some of her former 'Glee' co-stars.
