The pen is mightier than the sword.

That's just one of Pitbull's life mottos that has inspired the Miami born and raised rapper-songwriter to pen uplifting lyrics that motivate and encourage people. His new song "I Believe That We Will Win" is no exception, in fact, "that message is needed right now more than ever," he tells Billboard.

It all started with the chant "I Believe That We Will Win," which is typically said in unison at sporting events, and thanks to a close friend who showed him the chant on the internet.

"He told me, 'Hey, I made a beat to this' and I thought it was crazy that he was showing it to me because it was literally when the lockdown started and I told him, 'Man, this is what the world needs right now'," Pitbull recalls. "I knocked out the record within a day and a half and by the third day, we were ready to put out the snippet for everybody because I felt that that message is needed right now more than ever."

All proceeds of the empowerment anthem, released in collaboration with Saban Music Group, will go toward charities like Feeding America and the Tony Robbins Foundation.

"Pitbull reached out saying he wanted to do this track and asked if I was in and I said, 'I'm in if the revenue goes to charity' and he said, 'Absolutely, that's not even a question' and that's how it all started," says Haim Saban, chairman and CEO of Saban Capital Group LLC and founder of Saban Music Group.

Gustavo Lopez, CEO of SMG adds, "It was clear that this wasn't being released as a commercial money-making song for anyone, neither for Pit or us. It’s a passion project and it’s also a much-needed song. His music has been all about energy and we need that more than ever now, that positive energy and motivation."

The COVID-19 global pandemic has put many things on pause with strict lockdowns ordered in multiple countries including the U.S. where more than 500,00 coronavirus cases have been reported. But the ever-optimistic multi-faceted artist says, "I always look at things like a blessing in disguise. I look at solutions and opportunities and more than anything I look at the message and the lesson."

Ovy on the Drums Shares Road to Recovery After Testing Positive for Coronavirus: 'I'm a Survivor'

Lesson number one he says, "It’s given God’s green earth a couple of months to be able to breathe." And, number two, "It reminded people to utilize technology, don’t let it use you. It got to the point that people were so connected that they were disconnected now they’re so disconnected that ironically they’re connected. I think it’s something great for humanity to come together now."

"We’re going to get through this, we’ll fight through this," he says. "We have a recovery number of nearly 400,000 worldwide and that’s what we need to be talking about. That’s what I look for and we should be talking about these numbers to give people hope and motivation. To be able to be a part of this historical time and see a response from people like, ‘Damn, I am strong, we can make it,’ that for me is priceless."

For the music video, Pitbull has invited fans from all over the world to send him videos of themselves singing a snippet of the hook/chant so they can be included in the clip. "I’m asking people to send their videos because it will be a world movement and what better than to start it in my backyard, the 305."
