Peacock: NBCUniversal's Streaming Service Will Hatch on April 15

NBC Universal's new streaming service, Peacock will officially hatch on April 15, 2020. Here's everything you should know.

NBCUniversal announced that its new streaming service, Peacock will officially hatch on April 15, 2020, exclusively for Xfinity X1 and Flex customers.

Matt Strauss, President of Peacock and NBCUniversal Digital Enterprises, and Dana Strong, President of Consumer Services at Comcast Cable, participated in a virtual press conference today, to share with the press all the details about the launch.

Peacock is slated to offer consumers everything they love to watch, in one accessible place. Its national debut will be on July 15, 2020.

"This is a very exciting time for our company, as we chart the future of entertainment," Steve Burke, Chairman of NBCUniversal, wrote in a statement. "We have one of the most enviable collections of media brands and the strongest ad sales track record in the business. Capitalizing on these key strengths, we are taking a unique approach to streaming that brings value to customers, advertisers and shareholders."

Peacock viewers will be able to watch more than 600 movies, 400 series, live and on-demand content across news, sports, late night and reality television.

According to NBC’s announcement, Peacock will have the following subscription tiers:

Peacock Free:

This tier will give the viewer more than 7,500 hours of ad-supported programming which will include access to current Freshmen shows on-air, such as classic series and popular movies one day after they air.

Viewers will also gain access to daily news and sports programming including the 2020 Olympics, Spanish-language content from Telemundo, and select Peacock original series.

Consumers will also be able to stream genre channels such as “SNL Vault,” “Family Movie Night” and “Olympic Profiles.”

Peacock Premium:

This tier will be free for Comcast and Cox subscribers and will also include full seasons of Peacock originals and access to current seasons of returning shows.

In addition, viewers will have over 15,000 hours of content and early access to late night talk shows such as Late Night with Seth Meyers, and the Tonight Show Starting Jimmy Fallon along with additional sports content (including the Premier League).

Peacock Premium will be available for $4.99 per month. Consumers who prefer an ad-free experience will pay $5.00 monthly.

For any other costumers interested in an ad-free Peacock experience they can pay directly $9.99 per month.
