2019 People's Choice Awards: Biggest Jaw-Dropping Moments - Gwen Stefani, Pink & More
The 2019 E! People's Choice Awards were held at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, CA on November 10th. The award show celebrated an evening of honors chosen by People, whether it’s fans, viewers, supporters, etc…
It was a star-studded night filled with actors, singers, athletes, and social media stars. Robert Downey Jr. kicked off the award show and reminded everyone, “It’s important for us industry types tp remember, we actually work for the audience.”
According to E!, more than a billion votes were cast across 42 categories and we picked out the biggest jaw-dropping moments of the night.
Kevin Hart took home the first award of the night, Comedy Act of 2019, for his first-ever Netflix stand-up special, Irresponsible, which premiered in April. This marks the acclaimed celebrity’s official appearance since the car accident he was in on Sept.1 which caused damage to his spine that required surgery.
Hart started his acceptance speech by thanking God “because I definitely don't have to be here. Being that I am, it makes me appreciate life, even more, it makes me appreciate the things that matter. I want to thank my wife and my kids, who really stepped up to the plate for me… The people, man, you have no idea the effect that you have on us as entertainers: your energy, your support, it truly means the world and I want to thank you for being there for me in my difficult time," said the actor and comedian who kept his fans updated on his recovery process via social media.
Jennifer Aniston who recently joined Instagram was awarded The People’s Choice Icon. Adam Sandler, her fellow co-star on Netflix’s 'Murder Mystery' presented the award to Anniston and said, “she's exactly the way you think she is.”
"When I first heard that I had won this Icon Award, the first thing I thought was, Holy shit, have I been around this long?," said the 'Friends' actress.
Stefani went all out in her white high-low Vera Wang gown, which had a gigantic black bow in the back that paired with her black over-the-knee boots and black elbow-length gloves.
While Stefani shined on the red carpet with her over-the-top look, Blake Shelton kept things casual wearing jeans with a navy-blue blazer and brown boots.
Grammy-winning singer, PETA and UNICEF activist, Pink was honored with the “People’s Champion of 2019” award.
"Tell me one person can't make a difference," Pink said to the audience. "I am a dumbass derelict from Doylestown (Penn.), and I have managed to change a little part in my little world— and there is so much to be done. I don't care about your politics. I care about your kids. I care about decency and humanity and kindness. Kindness today is an act of rebellion. There are people that don't have what you have. Help them get it. There is a planet that needs help. It feels good to help. It feels powerful to help.”
"Stop fighting each other and help each other. Get together with your friends and change the f--king world,” she said.
