2019 MTV VMA’s: Rosalia & J Balvin Win 'Best Latin' Award And Call For Action For The Amazon

J Balvin, Rosalia & El Guincho took the "Best Latin Music Video" award at the 2019 MTV VMA’s for "Con Altura."

J Balvin, Rosalia & El Guincho took the "Best Latin" award at the 2019 MTV VMA’s for "Con altura." Both artists thanked their fans and Balvin called for support for the Amazon rainforest amid the raging fires.

"Wow. I wasn't expecting this, honestly," a stunned Rosalía said. "Thank you, because it's such an incredible honor. I come from Barcelona. I'm so happy to be here representing where I come from and representing my culture. ... Thank you for allowing me to perform tonight singing in Spanish."

J Balvin also honored his Latinx roots expressing, "I'm super proud of being Latino right now," and got more political and said: "the jungle of the Amazon is burning... we need help."

"'Con Altura' is an homage to the more classic and original reggaeton: reggaeton playero,” as Rosalia said in a press release when the clip released. “When I was younger I loved listening to reggaeton and it could have been natural for me to make a song like this before, but I don’t like to force anything.”

During the ceremony, Rapper French Montana and actress Alison Brie presented the award and both artists said the way immigrants are being treated is "unconstitutional" and called for reform.

Congrats to Latinx artists J Balvin, Rosalia & El Guincho for the win.
