Jennifer Lopez Sparks Controversy In Israel

Jennifer Lopez is causing a stir in Holy Land, find out why.

Jennifer Lopez caused a stir in Holy Land, the Latin singer was recently presented with a petition from a group of activists in “The boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement” to cancel her show in Tel Aviv, saying “it would be an endorsement of Israel's alleged human rights violations.”

The organization argued that her concert was used "as a tool for marketing the State of Israel as a 'cool' and 'cultured' democracy, while hiding a brutal history of colonization, even that of the city itself." The post from Codepink.org that has thousands of signatures said "she teamed up with Amnesty International to promote justice for women killed in Mexico and she and with her sister runs the Lopez Foundation to bring quality healthcare and health education to women and children in underserved communities. Why then is she planning a concert in Tel Aviv, Israel, a country known for its human rights abuses?."

Benny Medina, manager for the singer released a statement claiming "nothing was going to stop" them from performing in Israel. He added, "It's really simple: Tel Aviv and Israel deserve Jennifer Lopez, and Jennifer Lopez deserves Israel."

Lopez was also criticized because she was seen in a white shirt that was unbuttoned so far down that it exposed a small part of her white bra during her recent visit at the Western Wall, a place considered to be sacred by many.

The international leg of her tour was a family affair as she was seen with her fiancé, Alex Rodriguez, and their children. "What an amazing time we are having on my first trip to Tel Aviv!" A-Rod posted on Twitter. "The people have been wonderful and have such energy. I will definitely be back and recommend visiting this incredible country!"
