Bad Bunny Scores First No. 1 On Top Latin Albums Chart With Debut LP 'X 100PRE'

Bad Bunny has taken over the No. 1 slot on the Top Latin Albums chart with his surprise album "X 100PRE."

After five months of Ozuna monopolizing the No. 1 slot on the Top Latin Albums chart, Bad Bunny has taken over No. 1 position with his surprise album X 100PRE.

After ruling for 21 consecutive weeks with his albums Aura and Odisea (from the Aug. 4 through Dec. 29, 2018-dated charts) Ozuna falls to No. 2 and No. 3, respectively (on the Jan. 5, 2019 chart), as Bad Bunny rules for the first time with his debut album X 100PRE.

X 100PRE, which was released with little warning on Monday, Dec. 24 (instead of on a Friday, when albums are traditionally issued) via Rimas Entertainment, debuts at No. 1 with 30,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending December 27, according to Nielsen Music.

Bad Bunny Announces 2019 Tour Dates: Exclusive

That’s the biggest week for a Latin album since September 8, when Ozuna’s Aura launched with 49,000 units (in the week ending Aug. 30). Of X 100PRE’s 30,000 units, 5,000 were in traditional album sales.

The set concurrently debuts at No. 29 on the Billboard 200 chart, making it the fourth-biggest debut of the week behind 21 Savage’s I Am > I Was (No. 1), A Boogie Wit da Hoodie’s Hoodie SZN (No. 2) and YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s Realer (No. 15).

It's possible that X 100PRE could gain in its second chart week, following its first full tracking week of activity (since the album arrived with a partial week of tracking activity, due to its mid-week release).

Bad Bunny concurrently charts 10 songs on the Hot Latin Songs chart dated Jan. 5, six of which debut from X 100PRE. Here’s a look at all his entries on the chart this week, with debuts noted in parentheses:

Rank, Title
No. 2, “MIA,” featuring Drake
No. 6, “Solo de Mi”
No. 16, “Ni Bien Ni Mal” (debut)
No. 23, “Esta Rico,” with Marc Anthony & Will Smith
No. 32, “Caro” (debut)
No. 34, “Te Guste,” with JLo
No. 36, “Otra Noche En Miami” (debut)
No. 42, “200 MPH,” featuring Diplo (debut)
No. 46, “Tenemos Que Hablar” (debut)
No. 47, “La Romana,” featuring El Alfa (debut)

Leading up to his first full-length release, Bad Bunny has been enormously successful on Billboard’s charts. To date, he has earned 41 entries on the Hot Latin Songs chart, including 11 top 10s and a pair of No. 1s: “Te Bote,” with Casper Magico, Nio Garcia, Darell, Nicky Jam and Ozuna (14 weeks at No. 1) and “Mia,” featuring Drake (4 weeks at No. 1).

In 2018 alone, Bad Bunny logged 27 Hot Latin Songs entries, the second-most among all acts behind Ozuna (43).

Bad Bunny has also earned six hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including “I Like It,” with Cardi B and J Balvin, which spent a week at No. 1 in July.  His one additional top 10, “Mia,” debuted and peaked at No. 5 in October.
