The 2018 MTV Video Music Awards offered plenty of performances, off-script punchlines and surprises on screen, but the cameras didn't catch every last bit of the action on Monday night (Aug. 20).

Here are the best things we saw at Radio City Music Hall that didn't make the broadcast of the 2018 VMAs, from Pete Davidson's sweet hello to Ariana Grande's family members to DJ Khaled's subtle show of appreciation for Travis Scott and more.

At the end of her otherworldly performance of "God is A Woman," Ariana Grande shared the stage with the strong women in her family -- and her fiancé and brother were front and center to cheer them on after the camera cut to commercial. Davidson and Grande jubilantly waved to the pop star and Joan, her mother, Marjorie, her beloved Nonna and her cousin Lani before they left their seats to (presumably) join their loved ones.

Madonna and Camila Cabello didn't stop hugging and chatting until they made their way to the wings

After the "Havana" singer's breakout single took home the honor for Video of the Year, she joined the Queen of Pop onstage to accept her award -- and thoroughly freak out in the presence of her Madgesty. After she thanked her family, fans, and team, Cabello hugged Madonna, and Madonna threw her arm over her shoulder as the two continued to chat as they made their way offstage.

The Panic! at the Disco frontman defied gravity and safety precautions as he prepared to belt out "High Hopes," and his raised platform was on the same level as the mezzanine of Radio City Music Hall. He twirled his mic, tested out a few high notes and struck up a conversation with the fans lining the balcony as he waited for the lights to dim and the first notes of his latest single to ring out.

The father of Asahd was all too happy to introduce his friend and collaborator as the man behind the current No. 1 album in the country, and he whipped out a lighter during Travis Scott's performance of select Astroworld cuts to show his respect.

Bebe Rexha living her best life during Jennifer Lopez's Video Vanguard medley

The "Meant to Be" singer flaunted her complete and total lack of chill during J. Lo's career-spanning dance party, singing along with "Waiting for Tonight" and dancing as close to the stage as she could possibly get in a silver sequined dress that more or less turned her into a sentient disco ball. In spite of the fact that the ceremony would be readily available online shortly following the broadcast, the vast majority of the audience whipped out their phones to capture J. Lo's moves in action. (Rexha stayed in the moment, so +10 points to her for proper awards show etiquette and her demonstrated enthusiasm for Jenny from the Block.)

A brief, frenzied spell of confusion had many milling about the room when Lopez was set to take the stage and deliver her acceptance speech, but everyone booked it back to their seats (or tried to) once they realized the recipient of the evening's highest honor was ready to get personal.

The lobby was basically two MTV reality TV show reunion specials combined

Before the bars closed up and everyone made their way into the theater for Cardi B's opening remarks, the lobby was full of familiar faces thanks to cast members from The Hills and Jersey Shore making the rounds. (Special shoutout to little Gunner Pratt, who was glued to mom Heidi's hip and seemed to be a natural at this whole big-time awards show thing already.)
