Guillermo Del Toro Wins Big at the 2018 Critics' Choice Awards

Guillermo del Toro walked away with four awards and "Coco" won two at the 2018 Critics' Choice Awards.

"Shape of Water" and "Coco" were honored by the Broadcast Film Critics Assn. and Broadcast Television Journalists Assn. on Thursday at the 23rd annual Critics’ Choice Awards.

2018 Critics' Choice Awards Winners

"The Shape of Water," Guillermo del Toro's movie, was the biggest winner at the 2018 Critics' Choice Awards taking home four awards: best director, best film, best production design, and best score.

The Mexican director walked away with two Golden Globes, best director and best score, for "The Shape of Water."

Pixar's "Coco", won best animated feature and best song with "Rememer Me."

The film centers on the Mexican tradition of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and features an all-Latino cast including Gael García Bernal and Benjamin Bratt.

"Coco" competed against "The Breadwinner," "Despicable Me 3," "The LEGO Batman Movie," and "Loving Vincent" for best animated feature.

"Coco" also won best animated feature at the 2018 Golden Globes.
