Watch 11-Year-Old Becky G Nail Selena Quintanilla’s "Techno Cumbia" (VIDEO)
Before creating her first all-Spanish song and landing roles like the Yellow Ranger on the “Power Rangers” movie, Becky G was a big Selena fan.
"Selena is one of my biggest inspirations. Beyond just her music, her way of being with her family and fans was so special and so relatable. Every show, interview, and song had something special. Something Selena. Thankful for the path she had created for young women like myself to be ourselves," she captioned via Instagram in 2015.
"My grandparents are super Mexican, and we listen to a lot of traditional music — rancheras, cumbias — so I really grew up being surrounded by all these types of music," she explained to Rolling Stone. "I've always had a passion for it, I've always loved to move to it, and sing along to it since I was really, really little. I didn't realize I wanted to pursue this as a career till I was nine, which is weird because it's still really little."
