Selena’s husband decided to embark on a TV series about his love story with the late singer, and it is now being reported that Abraham Quintanilla is suing Perez and his production company.

Anything for Selenas!

Just weeks after Selena’s husband, Chris Perez, decided to embark on a television series about his love story with the late Tejano singer, it is now being reported that Abraham Quintanilla, Selena’s father, is suing Perez and his production company, Endemol Latino, in attempt to halt the production of the forthcoming series.

“I spent several years keeping the memories of my late wife bottled up inside,” said Perez. “To Selena, With Love allowed me to finally embrace my experience and understand the void it could fill in the hearts of so many others. I am now ready to take the important step of being fully transparent and bringing my everlasting relationship to life on the screen.”

The lawsuit states Perez and his production company violated an Estate Properties Agreement, which he signed two months after Selena’s death in 1995. According to the agreement, Abraham Quintanilla is the exclusive rights holder of all “Entertainment Properties,” including contracts, trademarks, rights, etc.

According to court documents, "Defendant Perez expressly agreed that he would not exploit any of the Entertainment Properties in any manner or medium, including, without limitation, by way of a book, television series, movie, or any other motion picture medium."
