Nicky Jam is on straight ride to fame, but many don’t know the struggle that he faced to be where he is today.

Nick River Caminero was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts to a Puerto Rican Father and a Dominican mother.

His family moved to Barrio Obrero in Puerto Rico when he was six years old. His family was low-income and sadly he had to work as a minor to help support them.

His talent was noticed and at age 11 he recorded an album “Distinto a los Demas”. In the many years of his career he’s worked with artist like Daddy Yankee, R.K.M & Ken-Y, Héctor & Tito, and many others.

His career had many high moments in the 2000s, but it later suffered a decline and he decided to move to Medellin, Colombia in 2010. Colombia became his second home and Nicky Jam his second home and he had the opportunity to restart his career.

Although he has huge hits now like “Travesuras” and “El Perdón”, Nicky Jam fought for his dream to wake up everyday and create music. For that and many other reasons, Premios Tu Mundo has award him with the “Warrior Spirit” award.
