Every woman has skimmed through the pages of a magazine and imagined herself wearing the styles featured in them. Yes, designer clothes are beautiful -- but what if you can’t afford them? Living on a budget doesn’t mean you can’t have style; that’s why here at Próximo we will help you look chic without blowing your budget.  You just need to follow these 6 easy tips:

1.    Know yourself:

In fashion “one day you’re in, and the next day you’re out”, so instead of focusing on what’s new and hip, focus on yourself. Not everything that’s featured in magazines will suit you – and you don’t want to waste money on things that don’t look good, or that you didn’t really need. As soon as you get to know yourself and find your own style, you’ll know what’s best for you.  Remember, they are supposed to fit you – you are not supposed to fit into them.

2.    Keep it Simple:

There are some garments that can be easily mixed and matched.  Always have basic items such as white t-shirts, skinny jeans, and a basic neutral skirt that you can pair up with just about anything. Our motto is “the simpler the better”: If you buy clothes that can only be worn in a single outfit you’ll have to double the size of your closet and triple your expenses.

3.    Invest in timeless pieces:

Be aware that trends come and go; so instead of shopping for what’s new, look for those garments that will never go out of style. The little black dress is a great example of an article of clothing that can change dramatically with just a few accessories. Also, make sure you buy versatile pieces: Some clothes offer you more than one look by just unbuttoning them.

4.    Don’t go label-happy:

Worry less about the label and look for bargains in all kinds of stores; sometimes items on sale are well-designed, have terrific fabrics, and come in beautiful colors.  Vintage stores are sometimes a great outlet to boost your creative energy.

5.    Accessorize:

Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize.  Great fashion jewelry can be found just about anywhere – even in garage sales.  Beautiful, bold colors in earrings, necklaces, scarves, and even purses will make your wardrobe look versatile and striking.  But always remember to have a pair of basic black pumps that will go with everything!

And always remember that clothing will only take you half-way.  The key to looking good is to have beautiful hair, well-cared for nails, and smooth skin.  Begin by drinking lots of water and eating healthy foods that will help your skin glow, from the inside out.  Clean, exfoliate, and explore home-made masques (my mom always used egg whites and relied on cucumbers to reduce eye swelling).  Always remember that no matter how well you are dressed, you are not what you wear. The better you feel about yourself and the more you take care of your body, the better you will look.
