Choose lean meats, fresh fruit and vegetables and foods with high fiber content like whole grains. Adding fish and nuts could add healthy protein and essential fatty acids that improve cholesterol levels. It is also important to reduce salt intake because it can increase the risk of hypertension.
You could also lower your cholesterol by starting a simple exercise routine. Even if it is just walking around the block for an hour a day, you will feel the difference quickly. Smoking can also negatively affect your health so quitting as soon as possible could really help lower your cholesterol. If a healthy lifestyle change isn’t enough to lower your cholesterol levels, you may need to speak to a doctor about starting a medication regimen.
