Hackers Delete "Despacito" with Over 5 Billion Views and More Videos from YouTube
"Despacito", undisputably, the biggest hit of 2017, had broken many records like becoming the first video to reach 5 billion views, the most watched video on YouTube of all time.
However, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's hit was a victim of a hack that targeted artists that use VEVO accounts for their music videos like Shakira, Selena Gomez, Drake, Taylor Swift and more.
In the hacked "Despacito" video, which has since been deleted, there were a group of people pointing guns and wearing masks. The hackers call themselves Prosox and Kuroi'sh.
While YouTube hasn't addressed the issue, VEVO released the following statement: “Vevo can confirm that a number of videos in its catalogue were subject to a security breach today, which has now been contained. We are working to reinstate all videos affected and our catalogue to be restored to full working order. We are continuing to investigate the source of the breach.”
Luckily for us, the video is back up and running.
