Wiz Khalifa Pays Tribute to Drug Lord Pablo Escobar via Instagram and Colombians Are Not Happy

After his concert in Medellin, Khalifa took a slight turn to the cemetery and went to pay his “respects” to the “King of Cocaine.”

After a concert in Medellin this past weekend, Wiz Khalifa took a slight turn to the cemetery and went to pay his “respects” to the “King of Cocaine” and notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar. The 29-year-old rapper left flowers and a marijuana joint on his grave, and took to Instagram to share some photos of his tribute.

According to CNN, Medellin Mayor Federico Gutierrez believes Khalifa’s “Escobar-themed photo tour of Medellin is disrespectful.”

"That scoundrel, instead of bringing flowers to Pablo Escobar, he should have brought flowers to the victims of violence in this city," Gutierrez said in an interview with local media. "He must offer an apology to the city," he said, adding that the rapper was "not welcomed" back.

Pablo Escobar and his Medellin drug cartel were held responsible for the death of approximately 4,000 people during his reign, not to mention the bombing of an airliner killing all 107 people on board.

Of course, people immediately took to Twitter to express their outrage:

Khalifa is yet to respond to the controversy; however, he posted the below message on Twitter this Sunday:
