TV Series on Selena Quintanilla’s Life Is Coming Soon

Finally.

As if we needed another excuse to sing Como La Flor.

In 1997, Emmy award-winning journalist María Celeste Arrarás published El Secreto de Selena, a book surrounding the murder of Selena Quintanilla-Perez. Arrarás spent years investigating and interviewing people closely involved in the Mexican superstar’s life to make this a possibility.

This past Monday, 20 years later, Disney Media Distribution Latin America, BTF Media, Moconoco y Latin WE officially announced that they are producing a TV series based on the best seller.

"El Secreto de Selena is the revealing story behind her tragic death. It is a story very different from the official one that was told immediately after her murder. It turns out in the months before her death, Selena wasn't as happy as many thought. She was living through a tumultuous time in her life, surrounded by people who loved her but also wanted to manipulate her. She felt that she was being pulled in different directions and she was torn. Selena was about to take various decisions in her life that were going to change her personal and professional life forever,” Arrarás said.

One thing is for sure: Perseverance pays off and Selena’s legacy will live on forever.
