Bon Iver Calls Out Beyoncé and Unleashes the Wrath of the Beyhive

Bon Iver criticized Beyoncé's pepsi deal and unleashed the wrath of the beyhive.

bon iver's justin vernon just did the unthinkable: he upset the beyhive and basically committed social suicide. in a recent interview with the guardian, he sat down to promote his new album, 22, a million, but while doing so, made the mistake of blasting beyoncé.

he mentioned his dissatisfaction with artists like beyoncé who take big-bidget endorsements. “like, i’d prefer beyoncé didn’t do a pepsi tour. do not take two million dollars from pepsi and be a role model for young girls. do not do that. that stuff does anger me. and i feel like i am not afraid to talk about that stuff.”

immediately, the beyhive reacted and stung:

ouch. the queen bee wasn't the only one he blasted. he also went on to criticize live nation, calling "bullshit" on their shows. "i grew up loving bands like the indigo girls, he says. they stood for something, doing benefit shows and talking about shit and changing culture or changing people’s mindsets and raising awareness. what’s music for? it’s not about having a bunch of cds.”

funny enough, vernon is criticizing artists for doing the same thing he once did. back in 2011, he joined a very public ad campagin for bushmills irish whiskey. although he later regretted his decision to join, son still did it.
